Your account is locked out

Hello you experts out there, we are having a little problem for few of our users when they try to change their password. When they go to File - Security - User Security they get the error "Your account is locked out, contact your system administrator"I have been solving this by recovering the user ids from Password recovery database. I have also tried all the things I have seen in this forum like delete password digest field and recertify user.

Does anyone out there know any shorter way to fix this problem or the even better if someone knows how to prevent this problem.

Interesting- I have been having the same problem & I think I have it fixed- at least to a point. I have recently been hired and have a some what ill managed domino domain- 3 servers. There is a password policy in place that forces password changes every 3 months- 1 of the 3 servers had the field "Check Passwords on Notes ID" enabled in the server document. People could access the other 2 servers, but not this one. When I disabled that setting, people could access that server, as well as the others. Ultimately, I think if I enable that setting on all 3 servers, than I will be all right and force passwords to be the same for those using multiple IDs (like myself who has 3 machines on the network) but I am the anomaly.

Check that setting- let me know. I am curious. One last piece of information is that we are rolling out domino databases to people who really have not used them before, which is why the problem cropped up now- they have probably not had access for years, but since they weren't using it, they did not know.

Guys

Here is the thing you are missing. There is a password policy enabled saying that a password is locked if the password has not been changed for a period of time. You are locked out if you have not changed your password.

Now the work around for unlocking the ID (also viewing the information. In the person document (administration Tab0 there is a password management section. This is where you need to go to solve your issue.

Here we go-

change the option to dont check Password

Log in as the user.

Change the users Password - file > secutirty > user security

then hit the CHANGE PASSWORD button.

Once changed. restart notes (not sure if needed but hey what the hell). This will update the person document with the password change. Turn password checking back on. This should then allow your user to log back in.

I had seen this before and also allot worse when using ROAMING with the cleanup on close config. This si how I got it to work.

Let me know how it goes.
