"You must be in edit mode..." when opening Preferences

I have a user that cannot change his Preferences. When he clicks ‘More → Preferences’, he receives a dialog box: “Noes Error - You must be in Edit Mode to change the value of a field”

I receive the same error opening his mail file from the Administrator client - so I assume it’s related to one or more profile documents that either ‘we’ don’t have access to, or are corrupt.

He was still using an 8.5 mail template - I upgraded to the 9 template, no change - still same error.

Subject: New Replica

This user had moved from overseas and their mail file ‘Move(d) to another Server’.

Long story short we ended up pulling a new replica off their old home server before it was deleted - all is good now.
