You cannot open an Internet messaging proxy database on a remote server

Don’t know what the user did and neither does he. We can no longer get into his mail database (which is all we use Notes for.) Inbox, calendar, to-do, all give us “You cannot open an Internet messaging proxy database on a remote server.”

We have one Domino server, for mail only. User was fine until this afternoon so he must have done something but can’t remember what. I can’t find reference to this. Compared his Location settings with other users - don’t seem to be any different. Checked Accounts, Connections, Locations in his Address Book against others - can’t find a difference.

Anyone know what is causing this?

THANKS!

Sorry, but I don’t know what caused the error to occur. I can tell you how to fix it if you are still having the problem or run into it again. Go to the database in your admin client or using the Lotus Notes workspace. Select the database and either right click to select properties (admin client) or select File->Database->Properties on the Notes client. The fourth field down is TYPE… set that to Standard and you will be good to go.

Like I said, I don’t know what caused it but I bumped into it today and that is how I fixed it for my user. If anyone does know how that got set by all means post it, because I would like to know too.

That ended up being exactly the problem. I also do not know how it got set that way unless the user did a few clicks they swear they didn’t do.

Thank you for the reply!
