Hi,
Some of my users randomly start getting this error when trying to open email, usually html email. They then need to close and reopen notes, but this only fixes it for a short term.
I have tried replacing design of mail file with no luck. The only solution so far is to reinstall notes whuich is obviously a complete pain.
Any ideas?

An error like this usually is not raised due to a faulty design, so I am not suprised that replacing the design will not help.
The user wants to do something (maybe he/she is not aware of this) that is not allowed. Maybe some of the messages contain a link to an external server that cannot be reached.
You have to see if it always happens with the same message or not. So in general: try to collect as much as possible and eleminate until you see what is happening.

Do they have full access to write changes to their data directory?

Yes, they have manager access on the mailfile and are local administrators on the machines…
The thing is reinstalling notes does solve this problem. So it is not as if they are attempting to access things they arent allowed to…
It is doing my head in. Im a notes novice so more suggestions would be appreciated.
