My users started reporting a couple of weeks ago that they were receiving emails in an “ugly” typeface that was hard to read. It was sporadic, with the vast majority of messages being fine.
I finally tracked down the issue to emails being sent to us using the Yahoo Mail Beta test. The default font used in the Yahoo beta mail composition screen says it it Times New Roman, 12pt. But Domino or the Client is translating that into the Windows “Roman” font, which is not a TrueType font, and it is “ugly”, as my users claim.
Anyone know what would cause this? I’ve dug around in the MIME conversion settings in Domino and the client to try to fix it, but nothing so far has worked. I’ve tried mapping “Roman” to “Times New Roman” in the MIME settings, but that didn’t do anything either.
I’ve looked at the raw “source” for the emails in questions, and this is what shows:

I assume the issue is in the “<div style=3D"font-family:times new roman, new york, times, serif;font-size:12pt”>" line of the email, but I don’t know enough to diagnose why this translates into the non-TrueType font “Roman” when displayed.
We’re on Domino/Notes 7.0.2 running on fully patched W2k and XP machines. The issue happens on both OSs on every machine I’ve tried.
Is anyone else seeing this? I moved my Yahoo Mail account over to the Beta and can reproduce the issue it at will.
