When I switch from the Office (Connected) to the Island (Disconnected) location, my stacked workspace icons don’t switch. For example, I have a stacked icon for my mail: a local replica and a server replica. In the past, or at least on Windows, when I would switch to the Island location, the icon would switch to point to the local replica. It would either happen automatically or when I double-click on the icon. Now, it stays on the server copy and when I double-click to open, I get the ‘Unable find path to server’ error.
I have a suspicion that this is more related to the Mac platform than to 8.5. But in either case, it would be really nice to have it fixed.
I tried a test, I made a server based replica on top in a stack set, I switched to offline mode, when I hovered over the icon it switched to the local replica icon automatically, however it wasn’t until I hovered the mouse over it.
Are you sure your offline mode location record has a “Location Type” of “no connection”?

I am not sure it is valid operation to copy names.nsf from window to Mac, different template like R7 could cause some conflicting.
But you can try to delete the office and island location in the names.nsf, and create new location like “Online” and “Offline”, for “Offline” the location type should be “No connection” and the “Mail File Location” field should be “Local”.
