I just used Domino 7. I am planning to change some of my view column to shared column. Thus, will this expedite refreshing of indexes, and accessing of view? Reducing database space? tqvm.

Typically, shared design elements make things a bit slower. Their advantage is that they expedite design maintenance.
I don’t see how they could speed up the view indexing, because even though the column formula is the same, the data could be different. In other words, you could have a SUBJECT column in two views, one for for Main docs and one for Response docs.
I have not tested, however.

Agreed - Shared columns are especially nice for data you need formated in a special way in several views. They make updating those views MUCH easier. Think computed javascript - if you change the way a function is called (the list of params etc) then you could easily break a web app if you don’t update ALL of the views.
