Will my approval databases still work?

Greetings,

Soon, perhaps as early as next week, my company will upgrade from R5 to R6.

I have several large and busy databases based on the Approval Cycle template from R4. Are there any compatibility issues with this template and R6.

Thanks in advance for any information and/or suggestions.

Hi Tammy,

You have asked this question in a very broad sense and it is hard to answer without knowing the full scope of the customizations made to the template when you created your database.

Based on our earlier discussions, I have not seen anything in your application that should be a problem, but the only way you will know for sure is to test the application on a ND6 Server with a ND6 Client.

I would assume your company has a test server set up (and if not they should), so you can test this and other applications before the migration to identify any potential issues.

Thanks for responding File Save,

Actually, the (one and only)server has already been upgraded to ND6. I suppose I will upgrade my client and test.

And by the way, I did not make any significant changes to the R4 template. Your response does make me a little less anxious about the update.

Now I am scared an anxious Tammy.

How many employees are in your company? (there is a specific reason for this question).

You should, at the very least, have a development server in addition to your production server and never, ever do development on the production server. At best, you should separate mail and applications onto separate servers.

Hi,

If nothing much changed in the R4 approval cycle template, it should work in R6. I do not see any major problem

cheers,

Thanks Paul I appreciate the confirmation.

File Save,

Currently we have about 75 Notes users. I do not have any control over the server situation. Now you see why I am so conservative and struggle with development for new and existing db’s.
