I don’t understand, why do i need a dircat database? in my server, the dircat task is running but the database doesn’t exist, i can create database or cancel the task, what is better?

Go back and read your directory catalog setup instructions again. As I remember you are requirred to create a mainlin database. perhaps this is the directory assistance dB that the server islooking for.

I’m not sure about that. I certainly wouldn’t recommend mailing something into a Dircat database, especially a Condensed Directory Catalog type of Dircat.
He should just go into his server doc and disable the scheduled Directory Cataloger task.

Depends.
If you spend many a day configuring laptops for remote access (ie: replicate all address books, update preferences with local address book, etc), then you need dircat.
If not, then just remove the task.
