Why can't I do...? Understanding Trust Levels

Like other community sites based on Discourse, we use trust levels.

What are trust levels? If you know the wider software development community, the name Jeff Attwood will probably be familiar to you.

Well, we can’t better his explanation.

There is also a table of trust levels in the Discourse FAQs.

This is a summary of what can be done in each category:

Hi Paul,
as an HCL Ambassador, do I also start with TL0, or will the site somehow promote my TL automatically later?

Ambassadors do start at a higher level, but I need to add you to the Ambassador group which I’ll do now. Glad you are here!

The blog states that we can see the Trust Level on our user page, but I am unable to spot mine. I have to look out for it in the Portfolio page, right?

Edit: Right after sending this message, my TL increased (a funny coincidence), and now, I can see it on my portfolio page. :victory_hand:

Click the Expand button on the right of your profile

This shows summary information for your profile and, at the bottom, some stats which includes your trust level.

The trust level label shown here is the one that maps to Discourse’s naming of trust levels (New, Basic, Member, Regular). Looking at your badges, you’ll see a badge for the relevant trust level using the naming we’ve assigned (Contributor, Top Contributor, Expert - there is no badge for trust level 0).

Thanks for directing me. Previously, I was not at any TL, and that is why it was not showing up.

By the way, can I know when this Discourse community came into existence?

It’s been in development for a while but went public in March.
