Who decides whether an attachment is in base64 or not?

Hi!There are MIME emails having the content-transfer-encoding MIME field set to base64 and other emails set to binary.

Who takes the decision whether an attachment from a received email is stored in base64 or mime? Is it the smtp of Notes, or the smtp of the sender?

What is the default?

Is there any advantage on forcing them to binary?

Thanks

Pablo,

This is definately not my area (so my answer is probably not very valuable) but I would believe the source client determines this.

I found this article that might help. You have to scroll down to see the article as the page didn’t load right for me.
