I am looking to create a Lotus notes add in as an interface to our peice of technology. Whilst there is loads of information available, does anyone have any links to some good getting started tutorials, code examples etc.
I have never used lotus notes before, and i am looking to use c++ to develop the extensions.
By the way, what is the correct terminology for this sort of software. For instance in outlook, i developed a com+ addin
Welcome! It mostly depends on which sort of add-ins you want to write, or rather what sort of interface you want with your product. Notes/Domino offers a number of choices, and there are many people here who can help. The best place to start is probably with the C API, as it shows what types of extensions are supported and gives samples. If you want, you can also do a COM interface, which might be easier if that is what you currently do with Outlook. If it is possible to share what you want in the way of an interface, or a bit more about your product, it would help point you in the right direction. Obviously, if that is confidential, you will have to ask more generally and we will have to answer as best we can. In any case, it is always good to see new developers looking to extend Notes/Domino and looking to interface their products with Notes/Domino.
Subject: Where to begin - how about at the beginning?
So, you want to create a product that interfaces Notes to your product (which you don’t describe and your profile provides no hints on who you work for)I’m willing to bet neither your product nor the add-in are free.
You’ve never worked with Notes before so you want a buncha free advice for how to do this?
And it doesn’t look like you spent much time searching the site for resources…like, I don’t know…the FAQs or the Sandbox, or hey maybe even Google…
Did I miss anything?
Suggestions:
Try looking around for available resources.
Buy contractor help - if you need this kind of assistance, you should pay for the help unless you’re willing to put in some sweat equity.
If I’m way off base, apologies for the tenor of this post but you caught me on a cranky day. Please feel free to set me straight. You may be working on a really cool F/LOSS project and we should be helping.

New dogs.No sleep.
Higher mental skills pretty much gone to … along with patience and diplomacy.
I have NO problem with closed source folks seeking help, none; especially when they, like you, give so freely back to the larger community. The willingness of commercial developers to give back is amazing.
I guess the post just felt wrong. I kind of expect developers to at least make a token effort to find information. It seemed clear to me that he hadn’t even made that effort so in my (not so polite) way, I suggested he try some of the available resources.
No clue where you got the details on him - his profile has nothing and a search of the forum for his name returns one hit. Just did a Google, err google, and found some hits - guess I didn’t think to look there yesterday.
Sorry for the cranky attitude. I’ll try not to do this again.
