Where is the RHE 4 Version?

We were told that within 30 days or so of release (of which we’ve already past) that a RED HAT version of the Domino 7 server would be available…

So, where is it???

My ISP (I’ve checked thePlanet.com and ev1servers.net and NEITHER wll install SUSE – in fact, Red Hat Enterprise is the leading sever software worldwide…

So why are we still waiting??? It can’t be THAT much of a problem…

Oh yah – ever consider a Linux version of the client LOL

Subject: Where is the RHE 4 Version???

Scott,

I too am looking for an answer to the same question. I have been trying to mail everyone in Lotus & IBM for a specific date rather than the usual vague “30-90 days from eGA date” answer.

Also, would you know whether the support for SMP is available in this version ?

Please help…Is Iris listening ?

Subject: RE: Where is the RHE 4 Version???

I don’t think they really care anymore. Lotus is hanging on to whatever base they have and have pretty much given up on increasing it.

Sad…

Notes 7 has some nice new features, but isn’t the big jump from 5 to 6 and that tells me they are pretty much ready to give up and let mickysoft win.

It’s amazing that I can’t even find a server farm willing to install SUSE – they ALL go for Red Hat Enterprise. WTF IBM???

Subject: RE: Where is the RHE 4 Version???

This is ridiculous. IBM is going through a huge revival for Notes/Domino (only somewhat earned by their behavior), and you want to describe them as hanging on to their base. There is lots of proof outside here, but you don’t have to go much further than this forum to see the evidence. More and more “newbie” questions are asked by people who are trying to learn Notes in a hurry, because their company is moving to Notes or moving to greater use of it. There have been times when doomsaying about Notes would have seemed reasonable, but right now it sounds like trolling. Just my two cents.

As for this version, it was officially supported, from what I hear, Spetmeber 30th, but it may be until late October before it is available generally.

My understanding is that the shipping Domino 7 Linux code will run on RHE4. There’s a patch required to RHEL. A technote is in review if it hasn’t already been published.

Ed,

Could you please guide me as to what patches are required for RHEL 4.0 for Domino 7 ?

Thanks

Where is RHEL 4 version?

Subject: *There you go. Ed should know better than I do.

Is SMP (multiple CPUs) included in along with the RHEL4…any ideas ?

Subject: RE: *There you go. Ed should know better than I do.

It is also interesting to note that both Solaris and RHEL was put on the backburner. Now, the Solaris version os available. The RHEL version as said on this link (http://www.lotus.com/products/product4.nsf/wdocs/dominolinux) is available; but not in in any Passport Login.

This leads me to believe that RHEL is getting step-motherly treatment, while SuSE is being promoted !!! SuSE has SMP support on all releases…

Amazing… as RHEL as more market share… and if the objective is to promote Domino on Linux, this strategy is difficult to understand. No one doubts that Notes is one of the best Mail / Collaboration platforms ever…why not make it better …in terms of support and platform independence…

Subject: Just a moment in time

This stuff will all get sorted very quickly. Linux has a huge investment from IBM, as you certainly know, and there’s a ton of focus on these certifications. The downloads and web pages and everything else will get updated in due time.

Subject: Good News. Let’s put the record straight

It turns out that the whole issue arose due to a mix-up. The Lotus “Parts & Issue” team has issued this response.

Response:

Description has been changed to add Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 for image part number C86WSNA (IBM Lotus Domino Server 7.0 for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8, 9 (x86) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 English). Website is correct. ECO has been written to add Red Hat Linux as supported Operating System.

Please download the “Lotus Domino Server 7.0 for Linux (RHEL) on Intel Enterprise Server English” from PAO Customer Site - it is within the 7.0 eAssy, one of the eimages.
