When Restricting users from sending mail to groups listed in the Domino Directory are there any reliability and any performance impacts?

I thought I saw somewhere that this was fixed or imporved in 6.5.3. Anyone know if this true or not? We have over 20,000 groups in our domino directory. We are thinking of restricting some of the groups that users can send to, but I still have concerns around the readers fields on this and performance. We are currently on 7.0.2.

Anyone know of anything?
