What's the meaning of Authors or Readers fields empty

With LotusScript I’m reading the fields of all notes in a database. I test those fields with .IsAuthors and .IsReaders and sometimes I get an empty field with either Authors or Readers flag. What does this mean from the permission point of view? No access or full access?

Thanks,

V.

Subject: what’s the meaning of Authors or Readers fields empty

If ALL readers fields on a document are blank, all users with Reader access or above to the database can see the document, if that were not the case, documents might be created which no user/server could later gain access to.

If ALL authors fields on a document are blank, no Authors can edit that document, but Editors and above can, because Authors fields only modify access for users who have “Author” access to a database (they don’t affect Editors, Designers and Managers).

anded, so the document could well have one readers field blank (anyone can read it) but another readers field set to something and then readership is restricted. I prefer to place one readers/authors field on a document and have it a computed field that concatenates the values of other Names fields based on a formula. This avoids a lot of confusion and errors. And while I’m at it I look at the result and it it is Not Null then I add an [Admin] role to the list, especially on Readers fields, so that you never generate orphans.
