What is the maximum number of rows that can be exported to excel?

Hi

Can anyone suggest wht is tha maximum nuber of rows that can be exported to excel??

I am tryin to write the documents from a view into excel and send it through mail on a weekly basis…

But encountering the following error when the number of documents exceeds a certain number

“Automation object error”

Any suggestion?

It depends on what Excel version you’re using.The row limit for Excel 97 and 2000 is 65536.

I think the limit for Excel 2002 is also 65536, but I don’t have a copy to check.

I have no idea about Excel 2003 or newer.

Thanks for your quick response. The excel version which i am using is 2002.

Actually i want to export the contents of 9000 documents.

Do we have any limtation in the number of documents exported from a view??

You could also be running out of memory.

A much better way to “export to Excel” is to write the data to a CSV file (comma seperated text file). Excel will treat this file as an Excel file. If you need to apply formatting, you can add it on later. This method is much simpler to code, runs faster, and is much more reliable (compared to OLE/COM)

At what line are you getting that Automation error? I don’t think, its with the data. Can you debug it and locate at what point you are getting the error?

Thanks for your response.

Since this is a productions server its takin a 1 min for each document to get processed… and the error is occuring if the docs count is more than 1500+.

Okay… i will also try to to simulate in local.
