We have Sametime 11 and clients using Sametime Embedded in Notes 11. We have some users who cannot initiate a chat when they are in DND status, must leave DND in order to send a chat and also receive queued chats once leaving DND. In testing I able to send a chat while I am in DND status and am also to receive chats when in DND status. Which is the appropriate behavior? Can this be configured?
I am struggling to find documentation to show what the default behavior should be. Can someone point me to the documentation and configuration for DND?
Thanks!
Hi @Dave B !!
If you have changed your status to "Do not disturb", it means that you do not want to be bothered or interrupted by anyone. But you can start a conversation with other people because that way, you are the one who is starting the conversation and it is assumed that it is necessary, you know?
However, I found an issue reported with different behavior in a specific situation and according to the article this is already being investigated:
Do-Not-Disturb status does NOT prevent new chat from being received

I hope this helps you in some way and please, mark this question as answered and helpful if your issue is resolved. So that you can also help other community members who are facing the same issue or have the same doubt.
Best Regards

In addition to what William said, it is also possible to configure a privacy setting to allow certain individuals to see you as available while you are in fact in DND.
These settings are found in the rich client under "privacy" and are stored in the privacy view of the vpuserinfo.nsf, so they should follow the user to the proxy as well.
Thank you for that information Casey and William. I may have to open a case because my user is unable to initiate a chat while in DND. He must make himself available first.
Casey, we are running Sametime 11.01 and Notes 11.01 FP1 but I do not see that Privacy option in anyone's Preferences as I was going to suggest that for my user when I found it in the help documentation. I wonder if there a configuration I have to enable for my users to see that?
Hi Dave, it should be enabled by default. You would have to disable it by implementing a managed settings configuration. Please open a case with our support teams so we can help identify the issue.
