What does the icon symbolize in designer?

OK, something really “stupid” for Friday night. What do the “grey arrow” icons means in designer if they appear beside a view or form?

I had figured (assumed) they meant the design element was hidden. But I have a view I copied (incase that makes a difference) today that is meant to be hidden and it seems to work fine… But the grey icon doesn’t show in front of that view and I’m just really curious why? (See below: Notice how Help Msg Lookup doesn’t have the little icon beside it??? )

I know the star means default view or form. Are there any others?

Thanks for the information. I couldn’t find anything in help and didn’t find anything here in the forums.

Have a good weekend.

Good question… look at the notes email design…there doesnt seem to be a good pattern…deft. only hidden views have this, but there doesnt seem to be a truly consistent reasn that I can see…

Hi,

I’d to notice this behaviour before and was curious to find out a reason. Later i’d figured out that an trailing space was present in the view name. I removed it and saved the view and then the icon got displayed.

Hope this is also a similar case.

Thanks,

Bruno~!

You’re right there was a trailing space and once I removed it, the arrow then appeared. Neat trick to “spot” spaces.

(Help Msg Lookup) has an alias, right? The grey arrow means that there is no plain-text (no parentheses) access path to the element.

My graphic should have included the alias information.

eview_dataDetail - didn’t have an alias

Help Msg lookup - did have an alias and

KeywordLookup - also had an alais.

Given that information, I didn’t show the alias as it seemed that wasn’t the reason. The “space” at the end of the name was interesting.

That’s how it worked in Notes 6, but it no longer should in Notes 7 (and it definitely didn’t in Notes 5). I always considered it to be a bug in 6.

I was not able to recreate a view showing the same behavior. Is this permanent, or just a burg that might be cured by a restart?
