WebMail Redirector and Reverse Proxy

Does Domino 6.5.2 return a different URL for webmail/iNotes access than Domino 5.0.12?We are running WebMail Redirector 4.61 in Reverse Proxy configuration on a Domino 5.0.12 server. Internet URL requests are sent to a Squid Reverse proxy in our DMZ, which points to the Domino WebMail Redirector server on the private LAN. A perl script on the Squid box configures the URLs so the end user gets redirected to the correct server, all or which passes through the 5.0.12 WebMail Redirector server.

I have upgraded two servers to Domino 6.5.2. The Redirector and Squid box will not work with those 2 servers for Internet access. The correct URL’s aren’t returned to the Internet user.

Any thoughts on how should this be reconfigured?

TIA.

Regards,

Bob Smith

(Additional information. For interior LAN use, I have a different 5.0.12 WebMail Redirector server in Server mode, since a Reverse proxy isn’t needed. It works quite well with the two 6.5.2 servers.)

Hi Bob,

I don’t know any difference between URL’s. I’m not using reverse proxy, but I use normal WEB access, and no problems so far. I would bet you have a misconfiguration on those new servers.

I can try to help you if you send the current “wrong” URL sent back to the user.

Daniel

I have a problem and i am wondering if you can help me with it. I have 3 internal domino server servers. I have webmail redirect running on the LAN with no problems. I have replicated all the mail boxes to a server in the DMZ and i have the users access that server from the internet. It works but there is allot of replication traffic on the network.

I would like to use the reverse proxy setup but i dont know how to proceed. I have a microsoft ISA server available. I would would be willing to set up another reverse proxy if i could get some help. Please let me know if you can help. I need to configure the reverse proxy.

Regards

Marlon

Hello,Happy to help if I can.

We are using a Linux box running Squid as a reverse proxy. It is redirected from the Firewall. This allows users to access their mail files on their home servers. No central server replicating all that mail was required.

I’ve got some documentation on how we did it if you like.

Contact me via email.
