Webmail and dns issues

I have a Domino Webmail server with an external URL of mail.companyname.com. Our ISP hosts the DNS information pointing the external IP address to this domain name.

Our DNS server has a different host name because Active Directory was not set up properly and the DNS is unfortunately named after our DSL service provider. The domain name is lsan03.pacbell.net Because of this, I cannot add a new host mail.companyname.com into the DNS record.

My problem is that I would like to browse up our webmail internally. I can use the IP address of the server 192.168.1.2 and get to the webmail homepage, however if I browse up the URL mail.companyname.com, I cannot get to the website. I really do not want to go to every workstation (250+) and edit host records. I know there is a way to fix this but it has been eluding me for awhile.

Renaming Active Directory is not a good thing to do in Windows 2000 and we cannot afford to update to Windows 2003 in which renaming AD is easier.

Any help in this matter would be great. The Internet has provided minimal support because I am in a bind with the Active Directory issue.

TIA!
