I had read somewhere some time ago that if a domino website in 6 doesn’t need a domino server to host it. Can someone tell me if this indeed the case, and also point me to some additional information?

I’m not sure what your post means… but yes to view Domino content on the web, you need a Domino server. The chapter “Web Servers” in the Domino Administration Help Database will help you.
