Ways to authorize email to mail lists?

Is there a way in Lotus 6 to allow authorization or some sort of routing of mail when it is sent to a mail list? Why do I ask this? I will tell you.

We came from a more conference-based email system prior to Lotus 6 and many here seem to be abusing the mail lists and we really want to just have some sort of authorization before an email goes out the the entire list (which can be many, many users). This has to be a issue for others out there - how have you handled it?

I guess just having an email list have an owner and that owner or owners decide whether or not the email is OK to be sent to the list would work.

Any ideas out there?

With ND6 you can setup reader access on the mail group and only the people listed as a reader can send an e-mail to that group. This one bit me with ND6 after we upgraded at a client site. It took two days to find out that this now works. It did not work in R5.

Thanks. I will give this a shot. I called Lotus support and they also gave me another option - to create a server mail rule to route it to a user or something or a rule that only allows certain people to send to the list.
