VoltScript Early Access Release 4 now available

VoltScript Early Access Release 4 now available

We are pleased to share that the fourth release of the VoltScript Early Access Program is now live and is available for those who would like to be among the first to try it and provide feedback. This release adds new and improved functionality for the VoltScript Runtime, Archipelago dependency management, build management, PKCI encryption in HashVSE, and additional capabilities in KeepVSE, as well as support for Mac Silicon (new).

See here for full details on this VoltScript Early Access release.

VoltScript will allow developers to code applications using their existing LotusScript skills, executing them in Volt MX or elsewhere without a full rewrite in JavaScript. The goal is to provide an alternative scripting interface in Volt Foundry that will provide LotusScript developers with an environment that is familiar to what they are used to using, with language enhancements, while at the same time giving Visual Basic developers and those with JavaScript skills an implementation that includes modern controls and is approachable and understandable.

VoltScript EA4 is available for download in a variety of artifacts:

  • The Windows runtime, Mac Silicon installer, and developer artifacts are available from the HCL License and Download Portal (Flexnet) and My HCLSoftware Portal in the HCL Volt MX Family.
  • A Visual Studio Code Dev Container is available for Intel Mac or Windows developers from Harbor. Login and search for VoltScript; under “Repositories,” select “voltmxgo-ea/voltscript-devcontainer”.
  • A Volt MX Go Foundry helm chart is available from Harbor for developers wishing to test their code in Foundry. A tutorial walks through using Helm to pull this down.
  • VoltScript Extensions (VSEs) and in the HCL Marketplace.
  • Open source helpers, samples, tutorials and documentation are available in the HCL GitHub.
  • Please see the documentation for tutorials and step-by-step guides.

Please use the forum to share your feedback and ask questions. For this Early Access Release, we are especially interested in feedback on the following:

  • Working with JSON data and interacting with remote data (via Web calls or through the Domino REST API with Domino).
  • Dependency management using VoltScript Extensions and VoltScript Library Modules.
  • Uploading to Foundry
  • Writing unit tests
  • Feedback on documentation
  • Suggestions for other capabilities you’d like to see included in VoltScript

We appreciate your feedback and suggestions, and please continue to check back for future Early Access releases as they are available between now and GA planned for Summer 2025.
