Virus Scanner Linux/Domino7

Hello,

I want to upgrade my domino servers to version 7 on RedHat Servers. on Version 6 we use TrendMicro Scanners, but TM offers no version for Domino7 on Linux and can not tell what they will do in the future. Who is using Domino 7 on RHEL4 and which scanner is running on your system.

Thanks for reply

Regards

Charles

I can tell you the scanners work the same as on R6. We’ve encountered no problems when upgrading to R7 on Linux on RHES4

What will you do if you got some trouble?? TrendMicro will not support you. I think back to some problems we had with domino 6 on linux with the scanner on RHEL3.

You might want to consider a hardware solution like Barracuda Networks. We have the model 200 for spam and virus filtering and it works extremely well without placing any additional load on the Domino server.

Although we run Symantec Anti-virus client (not the Domino add-on) on our Windows 2003 Domino server, we rely on the Barracuda for filtering emails for malicious content.

We previously used Symantec Mail Security for Domino in conjunction with the Barracuda. But after 2 years not a single virus had gotten past the Barracuda…we then decided to remove the Symantec Mail Security product. Six months later everything is fine with our 160+ mail boxes.

We use Domino 7 on iSeries and Symantec AV and filtering. I know they also support Linux and other non-Windows platforms.

Charles,

Also see my post at http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/0/99262bedba323e038525721b004efb47

There is a supported Trend Micro Scanmail for Lotus Domino R7 on linux: SMD v2.6 FP1.

The latest version SMD 3.0 is not supported officially for Lotus Domino 7 (it is for 6.x), but will probably work just as well.

We’ve been bugging TM about this for some time, but the SMD 3.0 for Domino 7/Linux has been stuck in “testing” for more than a year!

cheers,

Bram
