Hi everyone,
We have a Time Manager application to record employee time spent on various projects.
It has various views: By Date; By Company; By Person; By Project; Yearly/ Monthly Report (By Person; By Project).
The application resides on primary and cluster server. Yesterday a user reported inconsistency between what info they were seeing in ‘By Project’ view on the cluster and another user who was viewing it on primary server - only for one particular project.
I thought it was a replication problem and tried everything suggested in Admin guide (Used Replicate, Push, compact, fixup, verified ACL).
This morning I went into By Date view and they looked identical (did edit → select all and # of docs showed up identical). However in the DB properties they show different size and # of docs.
The problem is in ‘By Project’ view (its a sub folder under Yearly/ Monthly reports) for this prticular project - Firstly, the cluster and the primary show different names of employees under the project, also total time calculated is different on the replicas). Secondly when I expand the employees under the project to see their time card, it does not show any docs even though the total time column is populated.
So i am assuming something has caused the application to stop pulling the right info from the docs for this project and display them in the view.
The person who developed the application has left and I have limited development experience. I am assuming that
Could someone please guide me where/ how to start troubleshooting this problem? the entire problem seems to be for one particular project.
Subject: Views not showing the correct info
The DB properties shows 33552 docs for primary and 33458 docs for cluster.
In By Date view, Edit > Select all gives 10005 dcos on both replicas. Can’t understand why ?

Correction: this is happening for various Projects

This sounds like the application uses reader fields for security purposes and they somehow got messed up by a group, role, server or ACL was changed.
Have you worked with readers fields in the past? Is the behavior consistent between users?

Thanks Randy,
The only change I made yesterday was to give the cluster server manager access in the ACL of the application (even though LocalDomainServers already have manager access).
I am now looking into the application ACL and reader fileds of views.
I don’t know how to answer your question: "Is the behavior consistent between users? ". I wanted to put some screen shots here. How do you do that ?
I thought of creating new replica on the cluster, but lot of users already created new records on it and the only option left is to make it synch up with primary server.
Thanks for your input. I will keep updating this post.

I’m trying to figure whether this is a replication problem or corrupted application. If it is corrupted, then is there a way to figure out which one is currupted.
Would you recommend a tool that can determine whether a database is corrupted? I have followed admin guide => “The Miscellaneous Events view of the log file (LOG.NSF) records detailed messages about corrupted documents and views. These messages in the log file indicate document corruption”
for both the primary and cluster server …
