A view is showing all the documents every time it is opened in Lotus Notes Client. But it doesn’t show the documents created by a ‘Response to response’ type of form after clicking the twistie to collapse the categorized field and re-open it?
And with it the column with checked ‘Show responses only’ property is not showing the Column header.

Check that your “Show Responses” column is also set to show a twistie when expandable.
what I’m guessing is that when you collapse the top level and re-open it, the r2r docs are still collapsed but no twistie is showing to allow you to re-open the category. To test this, click the “+++” icon on the task bar to fully expand the view.
