how about if it is an embedded view in a form, can you still edit the column values. the form is in edit mode…

It doesn’t matter whether the form is in edit mode or not - the InViewEdit event is part of the view (either stand-alone or embedded).

Read the Designer help, as the column properties and view events need to be set up carefully to

a) allow the edit

b) perform any validation, etc

c) save the changes to the document.

I found the only way to enable inViewEdit when the form was editable and disable it if the form was in read mode was to have two embedded views - one with InViewEdit enabled and one without. Hide-whens then control which embedded view to display based on the form’s edit mode.

Don’t know if there is an easier way

First identify the columns containing user-editable fields. Then Check “Editable column” on the Info tab (i) of the Column Properties box.

No matter whether it is an embedded view.Editable Column property Under the column info tab will allow you to edit the column.

This is will not work in the web apps.
