If I set Verse settings with a language different that the OS is, search syntax follows OS language instead of Verse set language.
Anyone run into this ?
Mike
Hi Mike,
Good day! When I change the language setting in Verse, the user interface—such as menus, folders, buttons, and messages—is updated to the selected language. For example, when set to Spanish, the labels appear as shown in the image below.
However, the search syntax keywords (for example: from:, subject:) remain in English, regardless of the Verse or operating system language. Please see the sample screenshot based on my testing:
subject:Hola → returns matching results
asunto:Hola → does not return results
from:Test → returns matching results
de:Test → does not return results
So, to answer your inquiry: the search syntax follows the English language, but the actual search mechanism (full-text index) works across all languages, as long as the content is available in the database.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Kaycery
Please see the help you get when you set Italian in Verse preferences … it suggests you should use the translated keywords: da , a, tutti
not useful for users …
