Verify connecting hostname in dns

Hello all.

I have a single domino server which handles our external and internal email. I have enabled the above setting in the smtp inbound controls. However, i have a xerox scanner/copier (Document Centre C240) that cannot send emails through the domino server when this setting is enabled.

The scanner ip is excluded from anti-relay checks. The “verify sender domain in dns” is enabled. These ip’s are not allowed to connect to the server…

[192.168.0.20-255];[192.168.1.];[192.168.2.]

The scanner ip is 192.168.0.9

As soon as i disable the “verify hostname” it works okay. Therefore, domino must be able to resolve the senders domain. I have checked that the hostname of the scanner is reachable via dns and has a reverse pointer (?) record.

Any ideas why it cannot resolve the hostname? Or some pointers in the right direction? Or is this a question for Xerox?

Regards

Ian.

Hi Ian

Every mail has to have a sender address. Just make sure that the senders address on the Xerox is a valid e-mail address (use your own). I had the same problem where the Xerox guy just thumb sucked the e-mail address
