Validate on Rich Text Field

I have a field that is a Rich Text field. The users are requesting that I make this a required field prior to the document going to a completed phase. Since rich text fields are not available till the document is saved, any suggestions on a way to do this.

I have tried: A field that is editable and using the following formula: @If(Status = “Closed” & @Abstract([TextOnly];10;“”;“Results”) = “”;@Failure(“You must enter Final PPC Results before closing.”);@Success) . The Close Button has a @Command([FileSave]);. But that is not working.
