While sending a mail from my Lotus Notes 6.5.4 client when i type the name of the user in the To: field, automatic typeahead of the username does not take place and i get a “Typeahead not supported on Server” message in the status bar. I have to add the users to my personal address book and only then Notes will resolve the names automatically.
All the settings in the Location document are in order and i have also enabled the “Exhaustively check all the address books” option but still the problem persists, please note this problem is faced by all the users in the organisation so i tend to think its likely to be an issue with Domino Directory rather than the client. Is there an option or Notes.ini setting to disable username Typeahead at the server level.
We are using Domino 6.5.4 on Red Hat Linux Application Server 3.0 and on client side Notes 6.5.4 on Windows XP.
In a separate issue when users try to send mails to a Group they get a error " Groupname is not listed as a valid user or group in Name and Address book ", even though the group is created and can be viewed and selected from the Notes Client while composing the mail.
Any help on the above issues will be much apreciated.
I can try to tell you what I will do. If the problem is on one client only, recreate this user’s private names.nsf.
But if there is more then one user having the same problem, I will check the server, try to recreate the configuration document, recycle the server and check if users can use the option.
Thanks for your reponse but the option which you mention is already enabled, anything else you can think of,also there’s a setting in Notes.ini as “Disable_Typeahead=1”, i have remarked it with # sign.
When i start typing name and Press F9 it shows a message in dialog box " xxx not found in the Name and Address book or any Domino Directory.Press OK to skip or cancel to continue. "
