User created mail rules are the same things as “when new mail arrives” agents, right? And as such they run on the server replica of a mail file, even if the user’s location is set to use a local replica?

I’ve got a user that has a mail rule (on the order of “When sender = the boss, Move to ‘Mail from the boss’ folder”). There are some corruption problems in his file, and he was saying that the rule wasn’t working. Now he says that it is working, but I was wondering if the problem was that he wasn’t looking at the server replica or that there was an issue in the server replica that got fixed.
