Hi,
Under Notes 4.6x, we can use short anme.
Under Notes 5.x, 6.x using shortname when composing a mail, in the address field work differently.
Here the fullname take priorty – if short name is part of a full name, the full name would automatically appear or appear when entered is hit.
Is there a way around this?
Lotus support says no to that … I jsut want to see how you overcome this.
Thanks
Subject: Usage of Shortname
Well I think Lotus would know, but why would yo not want to do this…
This sounds like a normal behaviour. The Shortname/UserID field is being used to identify the user, and then when you F9 or Enter the mail, the the Name is fully Resolved for mail routing purposes.
Why would you want it to NOT do that?

Perhaps I did not make myself clear.
Assuming that I have a use named Kathy Williams. I give her a short name kw.
I have a use name, Kweh Stanley, shartname KS
When I enter KW in any address field, I would get Kweh Stanley, and not Kathy William. This behaviou differs from that in Notes 4.6x

Sounds like the first match is against the “Short name/UserID” field first, and then the “User Name” field second.
Try putting the KW in the “Short name/UserID” field, and removing it from the “User Name” field.
To be honest, you probably down want two letter initials in the “User Name” field anyway, as that would allow for very simple HTTP user name authentication, even if “Fewer Names…” was enabled.
Presumably your location document is set to Exhaustively Search All address books, and not stop at first match?

Thanks
KW was only in Shortname field.
No changes in User Name.
Search stop in first match
Can you elobrate on:
