Upgrading Mail Templates: Can I get a straight SIMPLE answer on this?

I can not find a straight answer in Admin help regarding the upgrade of Mail templates for existing users from Template 5 to 6.

I have numerous users on Notes 6.5.1 using template 5. I’d like to upgrade their template using a Desktop policy.

I created the DESKTOP settings document

“Prompt user before Upgrade. . .” is not checked

“If the user is running this version. . .” = *

“Use this mail template” = MAIL6.NTF

I then created the EXPLICIT policy

I then edited a couple person documents and added this new policy to the “Assigned Policy” field on the admin tab of their person document.

Question 1: Is this possible WITHOUT the user having to do anything? I do not want to give the user a chance to reject/ignore the upgrade.

Question 2: Why aren’t the users, who’s person docs I changed, being upgraded when they re-boot their PCs?

What am I missing?

You can do this on the server using the following commands:

load convert -l mailfiles.txt

load convert -f mailfiles.txt * mail6.ntf

If you also want to upgrade their folder designs you can use:

load convert -u -f mailfiles.txt * mail6.ntf

One thing to be careful of is user created folders will be deleted in certain circumstances if you use load convert to upgrade the templates. This technique will only upgrade your users’ mail file as part of a client upgrade.
