We are manually upgrading clients from Notes 6.x to 8 but we are having a minor issue with being able to do a “Replace Design” to upgrade the clients from template 6 to template 8 after a multi-user install.
Most of our clients are currently single user installs, but we are going to do multi-user installs of 8 on all of them
The steps we are taking are:
-
copy the .id, bookmarks.nsf, and any other needed .nsfs to a backup location.
-
Uninstall Notes 6.x using Add/Remove programs
-
Delete the Notes\Data folder
-
Install Notes 8 (multi-user version)
-
Copy the .id and saved .nsfs in the new path for the Notes\Data folder
-
Have the user sign-on
At this point the user should be able to open their inbox and go to the File-Application menu and see an option to “Replace Design”. The users are not seeing this option in the File-Application menu. Why not?
We are doing complete uninstalls of older versions just so we can have a clean install of the 8 client.
