Upgrade to Domino 8.5: fresh install or migrate?

We are upgrading from Domino 7.0.1 to Domino 8.5. However, we have problems with the Lotus Domino Service. This service wil not start. In the Windows Services I van see: started but after some seconds, it is stopped. I can’t get the console by opening the Lotus Domino Console-shortcut.The OS is MS Windows 2008 server 64 bit, Domino is 8.6, 32 bit.

We can only run Domino as a Windows Application.

I have tried to upgrade using IBM documentation about upgrading from 7.0x to 8.5.

Some IBM guru’s are busy with this issue (from March 23, 2009) but in the meanwhile i want to test some situations by myself.

I want to install a fresh new server and look if it will run oke. But how can I “import” the data, mailfiles etc from my old server?

I know that, when configuring the new server, I can user existing server.id, cert.id and admin.id.

But after the server-setup, can I simply copy first and additional addressbooks (names.nsf and names_sec.nsf) to the data directory. Also the contents if the directory \data\mail?

Has anyone tried this before?

Will I met problems regarding certificaton?

Thanks is advance
