I have Domino 7 server with AIX 5.3 64 bit OS clustered Servers. 1400 users are connect this server every day. Server details is IBM P5 with 4GB RAM. Everyday i was collected the server statistics, it shows memory usage is 85.5%. Now i plan to upgrade domino 7 to Domino 8.5. Can i upgrade domino 8.5 without upgrade the server hardware?. Any memory usage bottleneck will occur? Kindly advice me.

In Domino 8.0, the default NSF Bufferpool size changed to 512M . Due to that change and bigger Database Cache , we did see an increase of upto 20% in shared memory usage between Domino 7 and 8. But these are settable using notes.ini, so if you are close to cap on memory usage, you would have to lower the NSFBufferPool size and/or the dbcache maxentries value to avoid going over your max values.
