Upgrade plan - does this look okay?

Hi I’m currently planning an upgrade for our Domino 5 estate, to 7.0.2. So we have around 20 servers (based in different countries) and around 4000 users. My plan is as follows:

  1. Upgrade Notes Clients for IT Admin staff. Still connecting to R5 servers and R5 mail files

  2. Upgrade HUB server to Domino 7.0.2 - upgrade design of databases including Domino Directory and Admin4.nsf - retain NDS versions if possible? NDS versions will be updated later

  3. Begin upgrade of all remaining servers to Domino 7.0.2

  4. Begin roll out of Lotus Notes client to users - still retaining R5 mail files.

  5. Give user training for new client and mail file

  6. Begin update of all user mail files to ND7 design.

Not mentioned above is the testing we have already done for existing databases. Testing will be completed before we start Step 1.

To me this all sounds okay but it would be nice if someone, who has already gone through this, would just let me know if there’s anything big I’m missing?

Thanks in advance!

Looking good, you can read this: Lotus Notes and Domino 7 Enterprise Upgrade Best Practices ehttp://www.redbooks.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/redp4120.html?Open and http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21212217

when upgrading mailfiles there can be som issues regarding private folders, just build an agent to uprade them to.
