We are planing to upgrade Our servers from current version 6.5.2 to either 7.0.2 or 7.0.3. I will be upgrading all the mail files of all the users.
We are not going to be able to upgrade all the clients to 7.0.3 for the next 6 mths.
I wanna know what basic or advanced features will not be available to the end user.
I have tested this in an test environment i was not able to see the Tools:Preferences, is there any other basic functionality or feature like this that will not be available.
Are you looking for features dropped in Domino 7.0? I don’t think this will be a case. Tools:Preferences must have moved in somewhere else - just a change in GUI probably.
Subject: RE: Upgrade From Domino 6.5 to Domino 7.0
The Tools - Preferences still exist in 7, but the 7 template will not allow it to be accessed from a 6 client, I assume because it uses some new coding methods unavailable to that client.
My recommendation is not to convert the design of the mail files until you upgrade the clients. The Notes 7 template is just not designed to work 100% with a Notes 6 client.
I guess Stephen is correct. GUI in Lotus works both ways. To avail of all features in Lotus Domino 7.x.x, you need to have the client as Lotus 7.x.x, else some features will be unavailable.
