After running compact -c on a 85 mail file, I still have a 43 ods…
IS there a problem?
IS 48 ods needed for any 8.5 features?
thanks

Subject: ODS, compression and attachments
Hello,
Regarding “bmp attached files to an e mail I still dont see compressed or converted.” … If you truly mean attachments, check out the LZ1 reference below. If you actually mean compression of RTF embedded content, see the ‘Compress document data’ reference below. If you actually mean leveraging DAOS behavior, please say so and we’ll get the right person to respond to your question.
The ODS for a given database should be upgraded to the latest ODS version supported by the hosting Domino server

To get attachment compression …
The database property ‘LZ1 compression on attachments’ can reduce disk I/O and disk space demands
This change will same lots of disk space for DBs using lots of RTF (like mail) …
The database property ‘Compress document data’ can reduce disk I/O and disk space demands
Here’s a good buddy …
The database property ‘Compress document design’ can reduce disk I/O and disk space demands
Thanks,
Harry
