Underscore space replacement can not be used, help!

Our organisation has a requirement to send email that has differing internet domain names depending on where the mail is being sent (eg a message sent to dom1.co.uk will appear to have come from this.user@primary.org.uk where as a message to dom2.co.uk will appear to have come from this.user@secondary.org.uk). This is handled by two global domain documents (and servers) and multiple foreign SMTP domain documents.

We have always utilised the SMTPMTA_Space_Repl_Char=. notes.ini setting and allowed Domino to create the return address based upon the route out. However Domino 6 no longer supports this setting and we do not want to go to underscore, we can not populate the internet address field as all users need to have the “dynamic” return address enabled.

Other than leave the SMTP servers on Domino 5 I am at a loss. Does anybody have a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve got a ND6 SMTP gateway and am able to use the SMTPMTA_Space_Repl_Char setting.

What error messages come up if you try and use it?

Hi Ken

Thank you for taking the time to read my plea and show an interest.

Further investigation has shown that Domino is ignoring the fact that Internet address lookup is disabled in both domain documents and the setting of a period for the domain seperator is causing the error. We have set the domain seperator as % and the error message has disappeard.

Thanks again

Keith
