I have noticed when composing an email with a UNC path in the body with outlook and sending it to a lotus notes client it works fine. However when the person responds with Lotus and sends it back to Outlook nothing shows up…no text, no path, just a blank email. If you compose an email with lotus inserting a UNC and send it to an outlook client nothing comes up at all, blank email again. Is this a known problem for emails with UNC paths to get corrupted like this???
Subject: UNC Path w/ DAMO
Hi Matt,
I’ve tried various ways to recreate the problem yuo are describing but am unable to. Please provide the following:
-
What release of Outlook are you using: 2k, XP (2002) or 2003?
-
On what Windows OS? 2k or XP?
-
What release of the Notes client?
-
Are you sending this email through the Internet (SMTP) or are these users in the same Domino Domain (name & address book - NRPC)?
-
When composing the email in Outlook, what is the mail format? Tools->Options->Mail Format tab, HTML, Rich Text or Plain text?
-
What are the exact steps to recreate the problem?
There is a known problem in 6.5.4 where lines of text will vanish under certain conditions when Shift/Enter rather than just Enter is added at the end of the line of text.

Using Outlook 2003, Windows XP Pro, 6.5.4 lotus client (template @6), this is all on the same domain, and and HTML format.Insert a UNC path in the body of an outlook email and I send it to a person who is using lotus notes. The person replies with history and that email shows up blank in outlook. However if I open my Lotus notes the complete email is there.
Thanks,
Matt
Subject: This has been fixed …
Hi Matt,
This problem has been fixed for DAMO 6.5.5. I was able to recreate the problem you are seeing with DAMO 6.5.4 but this problem no longer occurs in 6.5.5. The DAMO beta 6.5.5 is expected to be available this month (June, 2005) for download, or, as another option, you might consider opening a Support Ticket so that we can get a hotfix to you for 6.5.4.
Thanks, Mike
