Unable to install IBM Notes 9.0 or to update to

Hi,

I have a big problem this morning after trying to update my Lotus Notes 8.5.3 clients to IBM Notes 9.0 clients. I’ve done that update yesterday on another PC without any problem.

After launching the installation process, everything seems fine. The first time I tried, I selected my Notes 8.5.3 installation directory for an update. the installer was doing well until there was something about ‘Publishing on IBM…’, or something like that, just after the files have been copied. and then, the cancel process has started! The installer then removes all the files prveiously copied and tell me that I’ve cancelled the installation and that no changes have been made to my system. But that’s not right! First, I never cancelled the installation, and second, it has completely erased my 8.5.3 installation! Wow! That a great installer!

I’ve tried to install the 9.0 clients 3 times after that and the result is always the same. How can it be possible for an installer to step back without any notification or reason displayed??

My OS is Windows XP (French). I’ve always installed Notes English on it without any problem. On this installation, the only thing that looks a bit weird is that the installer I’ve downloaded is in English (DOMINO_DESI_ADM_9.0_32B_WIN_EN.exe), but when launched, after the decompression, it starts in french. It must be made by a detection of the OS language, but everyone knows that a lot of bugs are introduced in the traduction of a software. I don’t know if it’s the case here, but it would be great if there was a possibility of forcing the english language for all the installation process.

Thanks for your help!

Carl

Subject: Solved!

The problem was a read only file in the Framework directory. the 9.0 and the 8.5.3 versions were stepping back automatically without any notice, but after trying the 8.5.2 version, I got an error popup telling me the the plugin_customization.ini was read-only. I just had to delete all files and folders and keep only the Data directory before restarting the 9.0 installer. Everything works fine now.

Do you really think removing the error popups is a great idea!?..

Thanks for taking time to reply Daniel.

Have you checked the install logs?

You can use the NICE-Tool to clean your pc from the old installation.
