Hi,I have an old, old database, that some people are trying to finally get into production…
It was created on an old development server, which has long since been de-commisoned.
Everything works…But when loading the form and going through the fields, I get the error message:
Unable to find any path to {servername] because Unable to find path to server
This worries me slightly…I wonder why it is searching for this old server? I ran a Synposis and checked the code for hard-coded references to this server, but there is none (this would be against our standards anyway)…
Why would it be searching for this server? I hope this error disappears when we eventually move the database to production? Do you think it will? Any ideas??
Any else I should be searching for in the synposis ???

most likely there is a lookup using replica ID to some database. It’s probably grabbing the replica ID of an old icon on your workspace that points to that old server. To verify this, do a File | Open Database … does the old server in question show up as a choice in your list of servers? If so then your client has the server cached somewhere. Could be an old icon or even your location doc. Check the current location doc for a hidden field caled $SavedServers and/or $SavedAddresses and see if he old server name shows up there.

Thanks for your response.Answer - Yes - it does show when doing file open database.
It isn’t in the hidden field on the location doc however.
I’ve tried to start the process of finding it on my workspace, however I have so many icons I think it will take a long time…
But, if this problem is likely to only be for me, as you have both told me, then I don’t think I’ll worry - I can put up with it…and if the users get it, now I have some good suggestions about how to avoid…Thanks very much…

I image that this is only happening on your workstation. Try opening up the workspace (square icons) and deleting any icon that references the old server.
