Unable to extend an ID table - insufficient memory

Get this annoying error message from ONE DB in a cluster of three servers.The error comes when an agent tries to add documents. Works well on the other servers. This server has transaction logging and DB is not FT indexed. Have found some traces of this error reported back in version 5-6, but this is 8…

Have performed numerous fixups and compacts.

Any clues? Worth taking this server to 8.5? Can that be done within a cluster where other servers are on 8.0.X?

We have this occurring in 8.5IF1 so there is no resolution as yet.
