Unable to access document properties

Hi All,

I am facing a strange problem in accessing document properties of few documents (recently created). It throws a message “You are not authorized to perform that operation”, when I right click on document.

I can see document properties of older documents created with same form. Could it be due to some server settings?

Please help.

Thanks & Regards

Vinit,

If I had to guess, I’d guess there is a reader names field on the document which is not SUMMARY. That’s why you can see the doc in the view.

Of course, if you can open the document then I’m clearly wrong

Hi Raphael

Thanks for your help. Yes you are right, I can see the document in view but if I double click to open it, it says “You are not authorized…”

If I take full administrator rights to the database, would I be able to access document properties. How can I set the readers field flag to "SUMMARY READ-ACCESS NAMES "?

Thanks in advance.

Vinit,

Write an agent to do this and then run the agent when you’re a Full Admin. Note that you may want to append an [Admin] role to that reader list in order make sure that admins can see it (by applying that role to their name/group).

Thanks a lot for your response.

What could be the reason that readers field flag is changes. There are several documents (all are created recently) on which such problem occured. What can be done to avoid it?

Vinit,

I would guess there is an agent (or querysave event) that is setting the readers field and that this code is setting IsSummary = False. There are reasons to do this, so you should not undo it without checking into why it’s being done in the first place.

Hi Raphael,

Thanks for your response. The problem has been resolved. Actually there is a computed readers field on the doc which fetches its value from some configuration document. In the config doc the value is set to “” but there was a replication conflict with it hence readers field was setting to “” “”. After resolving the conflict, it worked fine.
