Ultralite Calendar

I’m curious as to when we will see more functionality with the calendar on iPhone/iPod Touch. Currently, you can only view “Day At A Glance” and cannot create entries. I have had some questions related to this and when there will be some more calendar views available (Week and Month are specifically needed). I have been unable to find this information in the forums.

As an aside, I have had several customers wanting to use the iPhone. When I tell them that the only native (free) solution is a real-time web-based client, they are very happy to hear that. The Ultralite solution is a great one (for now, ahem…) and customers are embracing it and wanting to see more out of it as well. Thanks again, IBM.

Thanks for your feedback. Dev has been asked to respond.

Subject: we want to hear more

Glad things are being well received.

We’re in the process of identifying the content of the next few releases, and Calendar enhancements are definitely on the list. If you had to prioritize them, how would you rank the various features, e.g. creation of non-Meeting entries (Reminders, Appointments, Anniversaries, All Day Events), Meeting creation and workflow, accept/decline of Notices, Week view, Month view, etc.? What else would you add to the list, and at what level? Would not having any of the currently absent features block deployment? If so, which ones?

We’re looking forward to getting everyone’s feedback.

Thanks!

Subject: Yes, all of the above…

If I would have to prioritize your list, I believe I would rearrange it like so:

Month/Week Views

Accept/decline of notices.

Creation of personal entries (“non-Meeting”)

Meeting creation and workflow

This would probably give one the biggest bang for the buck of general PIM management. I think that being able to do items 1 and 2 from a mobile device are extremely vital to a large percentage of what mobile users would need.

What else would you add to the list, and at what level?

Better contact browsing. I’ve been outspoken about this implementation from the beginning - see my posts in the “other” 8.5 forum. Basically, I think that the native model of having the alphabet on the right side of the screen would be very slick. Other iPhone web apps (like Facebook) have this implementation. I understand there are some architectural reasons for not doing this, but I think it’s a better model to strive for.

Would not having any of the currently absent features block deployment?

I don’t personally believe so. The calendar functionality need to be addressed fairly quickly though as more customers begin to upgrade their Domino servers and try to take advantage of this.

Subject: My wishlist / priorities

My priorities would be:

  1. Month/Week Views

  2. Creation of personal entries (“non-Meeting”)

  3. Accept/decline of notices.

  4. Meeting creation

  5. Meeting workflow

What else would you add to the list, and at what level?

Better contact browsing for me as well :o)

Would not having any of the currently absent features block deployment?

Yes, for me it would. We currently have 8.0.2 in testing and EVERY ONE of my users will only use it if they can create emails from scratch (with addressing as in 8.5) and creation of appointments - personal entries would suffice until they are in the office and can create the correct ones :o)

Thanks for listening and don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any further info :o)
