Trying to perform a shared, multi-user client install without affecting the MultiUserBaseDir value

I wonder if someone could assist with an issue I am having with a Terminal Services installation? Since it’s unsupported (but I know it works), I doubt I’ll get any joy from IBM Support!

I am migrating about 60 users to a new Terminal Server, and upgrading the shared Notes client at the same time.
I ran the install on the new server exactly as described in this IBM document: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21422525 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21422525

As expected, it DID add ‘IBM\Notes\Data’ to the MultiUserBaseDir (in our case, each user’s Notes data is stored in their 'U:' folder). So, I followed the instructions on the linked IBM document (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21450751) to try and resolve the issue.

Nothing I do seems to have any effect - Every time a new user starts their Notes client, the data is automatically plunked into U:\IBM\Notes\Data. I have… - changed the registry key: HKCU\Software\Lotus\Notes\NotesIniPath = U:\notes.ini - updated the default NOTES.INI file in the common folder and added: Directory=U: - updated the ‘rcp.data’ parameter in the rcplauncher.properties file - I even tried manually adding a NOTES.INI file (containing just the ‘Directory’ parameter) to the user’s U:\ folder prior to them starting Notes Is there something that I am missing here? I know the IBM instructions are for 8.5.x (I am installing 9.0.1) but there must be some way to get around this without having to migrate every user’s original data into a new folder structure?

Any assistance/suggestions that you could provide would be most appreciated!
