Traveler not starting

Up until a few days ago, we were running a single IBM Domino Enterprise server.

Was running 32-bit R9.0.1 FP6 along with IBM Notes Traveler 9.0.1.12

OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1, fully patched with all available Windows Updates.

Recently upgraded my IBM Domino server to R9.0.1 FP10 and also added IF2 patch (a.k.a. Hotfix 68).

Documentation suggests that IBM Traveler 9.0.1.20 was needed when running on R9.0.1 FP10

So I upgraded that too.

Domino is running great, but Traveler will not start.

During the startup of Domino, we keep getting a pop-up that says

ntraveler.exe - Application Error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

Originally used the Traveler update package, so I decided to download and re-install using the full Traveler 9.0.1.20 package.

By the way, there is 1 KB difference in size, so I’m guessing not much difference between the Full installation and the FixPack installation.

Anyway, same pop-up box error occurs.

I really don’t want to perform a full uninstall and reinstall of Traveler f I can avoid it.

A full uninstall/reinstall of Domino is out of the question (too involved and not enough time).

Is anybody else having this problem?

I’ve tried turning off the server’s Antivirus just to see if that had any effect.

It did not.

There’s nothing else running on this box.

This is a stupid question, and before asking, I’ve searched Partnerworld, FixCentral, etc.

How does one go about “requesting” an available Hotfix?

On the webpage that you sent me, which describes APAR: LO93380, it states that “A hot fix is available upon request.”, but I can’t figure out how to request it.

Also, and this is a bit off topic and I’ll probably need to create a New Topic in this forum, but . . .

Has IBM published the steps needed to take my Domino 32-bit server and update it to a Domino 64-bit server?

I’d love to think that it’s a matter of backing up the \Data folder, uninstalling Domino 32-bit, installing Domino 64-bit and copying back my server’s \Data folder.

But I’m sure they didn’t make it that easy! :slight_smile:

I really appreciate your telling me this.

I’ll try your suggestions within the next week to see how it goes.

I know that I can run the Domino FP10 installer and it will know to uninstall the FixPack. Then I can run FixPack 9.

Any suggestions on how to uninstall Traveler 9.0.1.20 (so that I can install Traveler 9.0.1.19) without losing all of my Traveler data and user accounts?

Subject: Are you still running 32bit Domino?

Traveler 9.0.1.20 only supports 64bit Domino on Windows… for some reason IBM dropped 32bit support!! This is allegedly going to be fixed in the next release. I would suggest you install Traveler 9.0.1.19 and see if this fixes things for now. You may have to also remove FP10 and install FP9 as I think Traveler 9.0.1.20 is required for FP10 and above… https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27045363 https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27045363. Failing that you might want to raise a PMR with IBM to see if they have a hotfix for Traveler 9.0.1.20 running on 32bit Domino.

As you have already upgraded… It may be simpler to just raise a PMR with IBM and ask for the Traveler hotfix for 32bit Domino. Subject: It actually is almost that simple…

Upgrading from 32 bit to 64 is almost that easy - the difficult part might be uninstalling Traveler. Uninstalling Traveler deletes the Traveler database(s) - so back them up first.

Re: requesting a hotfix - you need to contact IBM Support -typically whoever licenses/installs/manages your servers will have that access. Take the ‘Open a ticket’ link from IBM Support https://www.ibm.com/support/home
