Hi,
I want to transform Rich Text to some other medium (eg PDF) without loosing the Rich Text format. My idea was to use DXL to export the rich text field and then create my own stylesheet to transform the RT to my other medium. I have 2 questions regarding this.
-
Can I export one field only, without the rest of the XML-representation of the document
-
Where can I find the dtd for a rich text field, so that I can define all Rich Text properties possible in my XSLT or is a Rich Text - html translation for all possible richt text tags already available on some forum?
Thanks for your information.

There is a redbook from IBM that should address all of your concerns, complete with examples. (grin) Its title is “XMLPowered by Domino” by David Morrison, Brian Benz, Paul Calhoun, and Yusuke Murakami. I don’t know where it is in 'netland, but there’s a link on the title page: IBM Redbooks.

Hope this helps…

Yes, I found the redbook and it gives usefull information. The pain in the ace are rich text fields and the redbook walks around them too. So, I guess, I will have to translate every possible tag, property in a rich text field to its equivalent in html or the tags in the language of my PDF-transformer if they have their counterparts.
I can’t imagine I’m the only one with a requirement to transform a rich text field to another medium. How do other users do this??

Many of those who need to do this, and many do, choose to go with a third party product because the effort required to do what you suggest is considerable, the cost is quite high and the end results are unpredictable. If a third party product is an option for you, our Midas Rich Text LSX is considered by many the best in the busines for transforming Notes rich text into high quality HTML or XHTML, with a great deal of control offered for how exactly the HTML is generated and how images, attachments, doclinks, sections and other rich text constructs are handled. As a LSX, it extends LotusScript with classes and methods to do your rich text to HTML conversion (and can also be used to manipulate rich text in many ways, including massaging the data in various ways before exporting).
